Faludi International Non-Professional Film Festival and Photo Competition
2013.
The Ferenc Faludi Academy announces its XVII. thematic international youth film festival and a photo competition in connection. The competitors can process the theme “Thirst” in the form of film or photo according to the conditions of the festival. We are looking for professionally demanding elaborated works that are suitable for creating a forum, in the language of pictures, for the dialogue of different viewpoints and opinions.

Film festival and Photo exhibition
The films will be evaluated by a professional jury. The works selected by the pre-jury for competition will be presented at open screenings in the presence of the creators the audience and the jury. The films not selected for the competitions will be presented at informative screenings. The jury give prizes (I., II., III.) in three categories: short feature film, experimental film and documentary and it has special prizes as well. The jury will remunerate the works of the film university students in a separate category.
The best of the photos on the decision of the pre-jury will be exhibited in the Uránia National Film Theatre. The prizes will be handed over at the prize-giving ceremony of the film festival.

Conditions of Competition
Film
- For the film festival primarily we are waiting for the application of young non-professionals, film university students, filmmakers or creative communities, but we have no age restrictions. Everybody can apply with the maximum of 2 films. Application for the film and to the photo competition section is completely independent from each other.
- One can apply in the categories of short fiction film, experimental (including animation) or documentary.
- Similarly to past years, this year we are happy again to receive films by students from film and visual arts studies, which will be evaluated in a special category by the panel.
- The length of the films must not exceed:
- experimental and animated films: 10 minutes
- short feature films: 15 minutes
- documentary: 20 minutes
- films of film university students if the film was made during their studies:
30 minutes.
- The works have to be submitted on DVD and on data DVD in DV AVI or Full HD format (DV AVI (720x576), Full HD h.264 (1920x1080)). Full HD format can also be sent on blue ray.
- English subtitles have to be burnt on Data DVDs, which means that subtitles should not be attached from the menu, and also that DVDs should not contain any subtitles.
- Digital formats should fit the raw material of the films.
- Studios sending more than one film are required to submit and send each film on a different DVD.
- On the submitted copies (both on the cassette and the cover), the name of the director(s) and the title of the film have to be indicated.
- An English screenplay of the films participating in the competition programme has to be sent by e-mail, even if it is subtitled.
- We ask every competitor to send his/her application form by mail and by e-mail as well.
- On the decision of the pre-jury the films not included in the competition programme will be shown on an informative screening, if they answer to the description of the application.
- The Academy cannot return any cassette or DVD.
- The entry is free!
- Lack of any of the above terms results disqualification!
Condition of Competition
Photo
- For the photo competition primarily we are waiting for the application of young non-professionals, university student photographers or creative communities, but we have no age restrictions.
- Each author can apply with one series or 3 independent photos to a maximum. Application for the film and to the photo competition section is completely independent from each other.
- One can apply with B&W or coloured pictures made with digital or traditional (analogue) technique.
- One must hand in one blow-up copy of each photo in the minimum size of 13x18 cm and the maximum size of: 24x30 cm, and also on CD in resolution 300 dpi.
- Concerning series the number of pictures cannot be more than five, but the creator can apply only with one series.
- Every participant should indicate their names and the title of the picture both on the back side of the pictures and on the CD.
- The applicants must send the application sheet by post and by e-mail as well.
- The pictures selected by the pre-jury will be on exhibition in the Uránia National Film Theatre.
- The pictures can be taken over for four month after the exhibition at the secretariat of the Academy, or we can send it back by mail providing we receive a stamped envelope.
- The entry is free!
- Lack of any of the above terms results disqualification!

Late entries will not be accepted with regards to other applicants and the pre-jury. In case of mails the date of the postal stamp will be regarded authoritative.
The Academy keeps contact with the applicants exclusively by e-mail. We are going to send an e-mail to all the applicants about the further details, in case if it fails to arrive until 30. October, please send a note to film@faludiakademia.hu.
